This book also talks about real things that are easy to gather up during the holidays like candy canes, pine cones, oranges, gingerbread cookies, and hot chocolate! Throughout the book are illustrations of the different objects with stickers that the children can scratch and sniff…

Before reading the book, the children looked over the items in the basket and then we began reading. Great way to explore the senses! I’ve never seen that book before. I’ll have to look for it. I prefer to explore the five senses throughout the year, rather than teach a separate unit on it, and this is a great way to accomplish that.
