in Children's Books, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

Wednesdays is PreK only day so my task is to keep things just a bit more challenging than on our other days of preschool. Today, we enjoyed reading the very funny book: “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” by Mo Williams and followed up the book by making our very own busses.

This book was such a big hit! I actually had not ever read it before and now I am a true fan. The book is actually about behavior but written in a funny style that young children can relate to. It is the kind of book that a child wants to read over and over again….

After reading this book, we made our own busses. We had the option to tear our paper or use scissors…

We made our tires from black construction paper squares and our busses from yellow construction paper…

This was a good opportunity to try using glue straight from the bottle. No time better than the present to begin learning how to control the flow of the glue bottle…

We will work on making good decisions as to how much glue is really needed for our projects, but for today – we enjoyed just giving the bottle a good squeeze and letting the glue drizzle all over the wheels and windows of our busses…

After getting the glue on, we had to think about how to place our pieces on our paper. Using our own judgement, we figured out that there might be just a bit too much glue so we had to slide the wheels up a bit so not to get glue stuck on the table…

With the wheels and windows all in place, we were almost finished but we had one more thing to do. We had to write our name!

Oh and just so you know –  we did not let the pigeon trick us into letting him drive our bus!
