A wordle for mother’s day!

I have been playing around with word clouds and really wanted to have the children at school make a wordle or use a wordle as part of their mother’s day gifts.  I don’t have anything from the school to show you yet but I do have some ideas that I did here at home while I was trying to generate a plan…

This is a word cloud that I made as a mother’s day gift. It isn’t quite finished yet because I have to put the baby’s footprint on the back. I have another one that is all ready for the footprint…

To make this, I went to wordle.net and put in names that were all about family. I included mommy, daddy, the baby, the dogs, the year, and a few descriptive words. There are a total of 11 words that I used. You really don’t want any fewer than that or your wordle will be a little empty. For the purpose of this project – 11 was plenty for me…

You can play around with the designs and colors and fonts and size until you have what suits your taste. When I went to print the final design, I selected a feature on my printer that let me shrink the wordle to a smaller size. Then I cut around the page and laminated it…

I cut out the laminated wordle card and punched a hole in the top…

For my final version – I will add the baby’s footprint on the back of the card too. Now it is already to go – just need to add a ribbon or put it on a key chain. I thought it would be a fun card for mom to keep with her…

Brilliant Mother’s Day idea! Thank you! I just created one for my Mom with grandkid-type words. She’ll go bananas over it.
