We have been exploring our sense of hearing by listening to things around the classroom but we started our day by listening with our simple to make listening tubes…
Each child got their own listening tube during circle time and was invited to listen to each to other and then tell what they thought their neighbor was trying to whisper through the tube. This was very challenging but some of the children figured it out while others just giggled…
I even got a chance to listen too…
We also sat very quietly and listened for sounds we could hear around our classroom. Â It was very quiet but we could hear the sounds of the heater and Mr. Hayden walking…
After exploring the process of listening during circle time, the children had the choice of decorating their listening tubes with tape. On the table was different colors of tape and scissors…
Some of the children took the time to decorate their listening tubes, while others were happy just to continue exploring with them…
Once the children completed their listening tube, they put them in their cubbies to take home…
Around the classroom we had other things the children could listen to using head phones as well like our keyboard…
And our listening center…
And our easel but I want to talk more tomorrow about our listening at the easel because it was such a big hit that we did this for several days…
