In my previous post, I shared with you the toddler block board book I made for my grandson. Â In this post, I am going to share with you a round up of the other board books I have made so far…
Puzzle and Sensory Board book
I had a basket of foam alphabet puzzle pieces that have been sitting around forever so I decided to hot glue the puzzle pieces to the board. Â For now, my grandson primarily explores this book by rubbing his hand on each page (sensory). Since he still wants to put the puzzle pieces in his mouth, I do not leave the puzzle pieces out unless I am there to keep an eye on him…
When I can be there with him, I set out the puzzle pieces for him to explore as well. He loves trying to pull the puzzle pieces out of the puzzles as well. Great fine motor work…
And as he is playing in his room, he will stop by to turn each page of the book at times too…
Toy Board book
This board book didn’t start off to be primarily the basic concepts but I have so many of these types of things on hand, that I just decided to use them…
I hot glued a different set of toys on each page of the book. I used foam shapes on one page and different colors of lids on a second page…
On the third page, I hot glued two cars upside down so my grandson could spin the wheels…
And on the fourth page of the book, I hot glued a set of magnetic numbers to the page. The goal of each board book is to give my grandson something he can touch or feel and as he shows interest, we can identify the colors or shapes or do a little counting together..
Car Shape Mark Making Board book
I cut this book into the shape of a “car” and set it out with crayons for my grandson to explore while waiting for me to prepare his lunch…
My grandson doesn’t have the fine motor control for coloring yet, but he likes to explore and make marks with the crayons and he loves trucks so I just let him explore the process a bit…
Building Block Board book
I have already shared with you the building block board book which you can read more about by clicking here…
Make it and Take it
I have set the board books out in a variety of places for my grandson to explore. Â I have brought them with me when we go out to eat…
I have set them out on the floor in his play room…
I have set them out on the table…
And as my grandson plays, he will often stop by and flip a page, or build with a block, or just carry one of the books around with him…
A fun way to expand our collection of store bought board books and to add a new level of play and interest to the early reading experience…
