A colorful outdoor game for preschoolers to play

This is a fun game that I have played with my preschool age children over the years and it never gets old….

Start by creating a square with tape.  Make each line of your square a different color. As you can see, our square was rather large to give the children lots of room for running – but you don’t have to make it this large…

Have all the children start by standing on one colored line of your square…

The teacher calls out the color of another line and the children run and go stand on that line. Then choose a new line and the children will run to that line…

If the teacher shouts “Color Mix!”  The children all run and sit in the middle of the square….

Then shout out a new color and start again…

As the children get the idea, you can vary the game by having girls only run to the yellow line or boys only run to the green line.  You can also change from running to hopping and so forth.   I just see what seems to be the most fun for my students before changing it up too much….

Every time I think I know everything I need to know about teaching young children, God says, "Hold on a minute!" and gives me a new challenge.

Let me tell ya...

With each new challenge that you overcome, you will find yourself better equipped and more passionate about teaching young children.

God didn't call wimps to lead, teach, or care for His children. Nope, he has high expectations, so get ready. You will have to give your very best but after teaching for over 30 years, I can tell you that it is a wonderful and rewarding journey.

Whenever your calling feels hard, just remember, 'He who began a good work in you (and in the children you serve) will be faithful to complete it.'
