Seeds are such a wonderful resource to explore in preschool. From art to math to science, the ideas are truly endless for play, exploration, and discovery…
To make a seed mosaic, each child was given a shallow lid saved from a margarine container. The children filled the lid with a big puddle of glue…
Once the children added a puddle of glue to the lid, they tilted the lids back and forth a bit to spread the glue so it covered the entire bottom of the lid…
Then the children added beans to the lids. We only used beans but one could certainly make this interesting by using a variety of different kinds of seeds…
And then the children painted over the tops of their beans as they wished. We used liquid washable tempera paint…
Some of the children preferred to also add paint to their glue. I left this part of the process open to what they thought would be interesting…
Once the children completed painting the beans, we set the mosaics aside to dry for about a week…
After the mosaics were dry, we peeled them out of the lids and added a hole and some yarn to hang them up!
Super simple!
