I like exploring other ways we can use the “sticky table” idea and this week I covered my flannel board with clear contact paper (sticky side out) and we used it to try a little straw counting in circletime…
Each of the children selected a couple of straws and were invited to add their straws to our sticky board…
Once all the straws were added we counted them all together…
Then during center time, the board and straws were set out so the children could stop by and make other designs with the straws on the sticky board…
The nice thing about using a sticky table or a sticky board to explore straws is that the straws don’t roll off. The straws stick pretty firmly to the contact paper making it easy to place the straws where you like and keep them in place…
We had both straight straws and just the “bendable” ends of straws available during our center time for creating sticky board designs…
The children added to the board throughout the day…
I have been asked where I got these bright colored straws. You can purchase these bright colors from Meijer or you can find them on Amazon – see links below…
Super simple and fun idea!
