Oh my goodness, this was such a fun activity to observe today. For some reason, my preschoolers sat for the longest time and played and giggled as they made their play dough turkeys…
I set out play dough (orange and brown) and a bunch of feathers…
We have been reading lots of Thanksgiving and turkey type books so the children already had ‘turkey on the brain’ and knew right away that they could make turkeys with these items…
The children just played and played. Some sat and poked holes in the play dough with the end of the feathers – as many holes as they could. Others rolled up play dough balls and loaded them with as many feathers as they could…
I just got so tickled as I watched the children play. We had turkeys that could fly and turkeys that couldn’t quite fly…
After some time, a few of the children added hats and heads to the turkeys (thanks to the help of Miss Abby) but most of the heads kept falling off which was cause for even more giggles…
Super simple activity and come to find out – very entertaining too!
