A polk-a-dot trash can for the preschool classroom

This fun little trashcan photo has been pinned all around Pinterest and I was so excited to see it…

I have been looking for a trashcan for my classroom and every time I start to buy one, I always put it back on the shelf. That is because I already have a trash can and really didn’t need another one. It was just that my trash can was old and plain…

So when I saw the idea for sprucing up my trash can, I was soooo excited.  I guess I could have used paint, but I had these rolls of contact paper I bought from Staples for other projects, and decided to use them for making my polk-a-dots…

Using a few squares from the different colors of contact paper, I traced some circles using lids and cut them out…

Then I took the paper off the back of each circle and placed my dots on the front and top of the trash can…

Now I have the cutest trash can ever!! I have no idea how long the dots will stay on the trash can, but I know if they fall off – I can always replace them or go to plan B and paint on the dots…

So now, Instead of an old boring white trash can sitting under my cabinet – I have a fun polk-a-dot trash can!

Every time I think I know everything I need to know about teaching young children, God says, "Hold on a minute!" and gives me a new challenge.

Let me tell ya...

With each new challenge that you overcome, you will find yourself better equipped and more passionate about teaching young children.

God didn't call wimps to lead, teach, or care for His children. Nope, he has high expectations, so get ready. You will have to give your very best but after teaching for over 30 years, I can tell you that it is a wonderful and rewarding journey.

Whenever your calling feels hard, just remember, 'He who began a good work in you (and in the children you serve) will be faithful to complete it.'
