L is for lion in preschool

The children are exploring the letter L this week and today, this class made lions!

The children started out with a construction paper circle then added a construction paper mouth, nose, and two googly eyeballs…

Once they had their facial features added, the children brushed the edge of the paper circle with a thick layer of glue…

Next, the children added colorful pasta to the glue to create a colorful lion’s mane:) The colorful pasta was left over from another project we had done earlier this year…

Each child chose the direction he or she wanted to glue on the pasta. The lion below is a sad lion 🙁

The children really took their time creating the lions and did a terrific job managing the glue. Once the lions were done, they had to be picked up carefully and placed on the rack to dry so the pasta would not fall off…

The class next door made lions too, but they took a little different approach. I will show you their lions tomorrow!

Thank you to Rhyme Time for this fun idea!

Every time I think I know everything I need to know about teaching young children, God says, "Hold on a minute!" and gives me a new challenge.

Let me tell ya...

With each new challenge that you overcome, you will find yourself better equipped and more passionate about teaching young children.

God didn't call wimps to lead, teach, or care for His children. Nope, he has high expectations, so get ready. You will have to give your very best but after teaching for over 30 years, I can tell you that it is a wonderful and rewarding journey.

Whenever your calling feels hard, just remember, 'He who began a good work in you (and in the children you serve) will be faithful to complete it.'
