Exploring carrots for healthy food week in preschool!

Through out this week, the children are exploring healthy foods. Today, the focus was on vegetables and one of the many activities was to make this simple carrot.

The children were each given a cut-out of a carrot and invited to brush glue on the carrot…

Add a few green construction paper leaves to the tip of the carrot…

And some orange tissue paper squares all over to make the carrots orange…

The best part of making this carrot was putting on lots and lots of glue!

There was definitely plenty of glue to hold those orange pieces of tissue paper!

Try a little peeling and cutting carrots too from Glue Sky!

Available on Amazon…

I used this book: Today I Ate a Rainbow! (http://www.todayiatearainbow.com/) when discussing healthy eating with my pre-k class. I ordered it online and it arrived within a week.
Even though we discussed it in early September, they are now still referring to it when they bring out their (sent from home) snack. Exclamations, such as, “I have a colour in the rainbow!” about their raspberries or cucumbers brings a smile to my face – they were listening!
