A fan on my Facebook page recently shared how you can use an oatmeal container for marble painting and I thought this was such a clever idea. I had never thought of it before so we  decided to try it with acorns as part of our fall theme.
We started off by putting a piece of paper in the oatmeal container. Then added some red, orange, brown, and yellow paint and a handful of acorns.
Next we put on the lid, making sure it would stay on securely, and then “shake, shake, shake.”
And “roll, roll, roll.”
As much as the children enjoyed rolling and shaking the container, they were just as excited to take off the lid to see their painted paper.
Something that I noticed, which I haven’t noticed before, was that after removing the paintings from the oatmeal container, the children are now using descriptive language to tell me about their paintings…
This little girl said, “I made a fall tree with leaves all around.”
This little boy said, “My picture looks like a big sky.”
So cool!
