We made felt puppets in kindergarten

I don’t know where the teacher got these felt puppets from but she said it was a kit that she found tucked away in the back of her closet.

I enjoyed watching the children make their puppets. The children liked having all the different pieces of felt to choose from to design their very own puppet.

I also noticed that the children were able to use just plain glue to get the felt pieces to stick together. I usually do not have much luck sticking felt on felt with glue so this must not be the kind of felt I normally use.  Those of you who are crafty out there may be able to tell me more about this material.

The children were particularly fascinated with the mouth of their puppet. They liked choosing a tongue and making it stick out.

I was wondering if there was a way to make these puppets without the kit. I am not much of a sewer but I can perform miracles with construction paper!

In the end the children made a wonderful assortment of puppets to play with. Now all they need is a puppet stage!

Every time I think I know everything I need to know about teaching young children, God says, "Hold on a minute!" and gives me a new challenge.

Let me tell ya...

With each new challenge that you overcome, you will find yourself better equipped and more passionate about teaching young children.

God didn't call wimps to lead, teach, or care for His children. Nope, he has high expectations, so get ready. You will have to give your very best but after teaching for over 30 years, I can tell you that it is a wonderful and rewarding journey.

Whenever your calling feels hard, just remember, 'He who began a good work in you (and in the children you serve) will be faithful to complete it.'
