Making place mats for our Thanksgiving feast in preschool

As part of our preparation for our thanksgiving feast, we have made all kinds of place mats. Each teacher has selected a different design for their children to make.

This class made turkeys by drawing around their foot and cutting it out of brown construction paper. The children glued their paper foot onto their place mat first…

Then they glued little colorful squares to their place mats to create feathers…

There were lots of other ideas as well but I couldn’t catch them in action so I will just share the final results with you because they are very cute to see…

We tickled our feet and hands with these painted turkeys…

We made fabulous fall fingerprint trees on these place mats…

We glued interesting shapes in long rows, or sort of long rows, for these Native American looking place mat…

And a few turkey and footprint pilgrim place mats were made by this class…

See our hats, invitations, and menu too!

Every time I think I know everything I need to know about teaching young children, God says, "Hold on a minute!" and gives me a new challenge.

Let me tell ya...

With each new challenge that you overcome, you will find yourself better equipped and more passionate about teaching young children.

God didn't call wimps to lead, teach, or care for His children. Nope, he has high expectations, so get ready. You will have to give your very best but after teaching for over 30 years, I can tell you that it is a wonderful and rewarding journey.

Whenever your calling feels hard, just remember, 'He who began a good work in you (and in the children you serve) will be faithful to complete it.'
