This is an early childhood teacher’s rendition of My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music. I hope you are familiar with the tune so you can sing along and have a little fun with it too…
Kids in long t-shirts with paint on their noses.
Dancing and freezing in fun silly poses.
Laughing and listening and singing with me…
These are a few of my favorite things.
Scooping and pouring and twisting and turning.
Sharp little minds always thinking and learning.
Brown paper bags filled with acorns and leaves…
These are a few of my favorite things.
Bright colored treasures for counting and sorting.
Names on our wall that we read every morning.
Playing outside in fall, winter, and spring…
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the juice spills,
When the paint drips,
When I’m feeling sad…
I simply remember my favorite things and then I don’t feel….
Sooooo bad.
It seems like every time I turn around this year, I am watching The Sound of Music. I even happened to see the von Trapp Family Singers perform live at the Indianapolis Symphony Yuletide Celebration last week. Once I get all those familiar songs in my head, I sing them all the time so I made my own version of My Favorite Things. If you haven’t heard the song before, you can listen to the original song on YouTube or you can see a copy of the words to the original song by clicking the link here.
From all of us here at Teach Preschool…
We wish you time and joy with all of  your favorite people and things throughout the Christmas season and all through the New Year!
