Ain’t Gonna Paint No More is a wonderful picture book about a little boy who gets in trouble for painting on the walls of his house.  His mother takes away all of his paint.  He declares that he “Ain’t gonna paint no more!”  But he simply can’t resist.  Rather than painting the walls this time, he decides to paint on his body.  This fun sing-song story has vivid, colorful illustrations.  It is no stretch of the imagination to say that this book brought about an artistic frenzy in our classroom.  It all began with painting on our arms…

The illustrations in this book are simply stunning!  We read, or rather sang, our way through the book one time.  Then we went back through the book to explore the pictures and to discover the story.  We really took our time looking at the designs the little boy painted on his arms and legs.  We noted the different types of lines.  There were straight lines, curvy lines, and zigzag lines.  There were also dots and circles…

To begin our art activity, the children were given the opportunity to trace around their hands and up their arms…
