We made foil fish in preschool

I love bubble wrap printing and couldn’t wait to share the experience with the children this year. Finally, I had the chance to share this experience as part of our foil fish activity….

The children started this activity by gluing their foil fish shapes on a sheet of white paper…

Then the children were invited to use colorful permanent markers to decorate their fish shapes.  The reason we used permanent markers is so 1) the marker would not rub off of the foil and 2) we plan to paint over the fish as our next step…

Once the children finished their designs on the fish, then they painted over the fish and the white paper with bubble wrap and blue paint…

We wrapped play dough rolling pins with the bubble wrap and the children used the bubble wrapped rolling pins to paint all over their fish and paper…

The bubble wrap made nice bubble prints…

Some of the children rolled the paint on, but we had some children who rubbed the paint on. I think next time, I will go with a kitchen rolling pin because it rolls better than our playdough rolling pins. Oh, and I noticed that some of the children preferred to paint their paper first then add their fish. It didn’t matter which way they chose to complete the process…

And just as a FYI, the “The Rainbow Fish” book by Marcus Pfister would go great with this process, however, we read “Blue Sea” by Robert Kalan which I have to say – the children LOVED this book…
