Painting fall trees with egg cartons in preschool

Explore fall with your students by making art with recycled materials

After a little fun with fall leaves on the flannel board, we explored a little fall leaf egg carton printing..

Making their Drawings

The children started by drawing their own fall tree branches on a sheet of paper…

Adding to their Creations

Then they dipped the bottom of a cut-up egg carton container into some red, yellow, or orange paint…

Next, they pressed the egg cartons on the paper to make fall leaf prints…

Enjoying the Process

Each child chose a little different approach to their painting with the egg carton…

Some of the children preferred to go up and down with the egg carton and others chose to rub the egg cartons around on their paper…

Reusing Recycled Materials

Although we had paint on the bottom of the egg cartons when we finished, I still saved the egg cartons to use again for another day…

Every time I think I know everything I need to know about teaching young children, God says, "Hold on a minute!" and gives me a new challenge.

Let me tell ya...

With each new challenge that you overcome, you will find yourself better equipped and more passionate about teaching young children.

God didn't call wimps to lead, teach, or care for His children. Nope, he has high expectations, so get ready. You will have to give your very best but after teaching for over 30 years, I can tell you that it is a wonderful and rewarding journey.

Whenever your calling feels hard, just remember, 'He who began a good work in you (and in the children you serve) will be faithful to complete it.'
