Today the children made pepperoni and sausage pizzas. This is part of our ongoing theme for healthy eating. We have made fruit pizzas, cheese pizzas, veggie pizzas, and today was the meat group – meat pizza!
The teacher had already precut red pepperoni, brown sausage, and yellow cheese from construction paper.
The children used their glue sticks to add their toppings to the pizzas. I actually observed two classes working on this at the same time in two different rooms…
Each teacher used their own ideas for implementing the process today. I love seeing the differences in teaching styles, perceptions, ideas, and approach. Â The children in classroom A made a single pizza with the toppings on top…
The children in the classroom B Â made three small pizzas with the toppings on top…
After the children in classroom B were finished with their pepperoni pizzas, the teacher invited each child to take a minute and count the number of pepperoni they put on their pizza…
Both approaches to the same activity had great results and in each class, the children took their time placing the toppings where they wanted them to go on their pizzas.
Tomorrow – we make real pizzas! Yum!
