Debbie Clement is an author, singer, and song writer all wrapped up in a tiny, but very energetic, sweetheart of a gal! I had the pleasure of meeting Debbie about a year ago at the National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC) early childhood conference in 2009. Debbie will be presenting again at this year’s NAEYC conference on Thursday, November 4, 2010 in Anaheim, California and I look forward to seeing her there.
Debbie has a brand new book titled, “Red, White, and Blue.” It is a beautiful book that Debbie spent five years in the making. The artwork comes from Debbie’s amazing and unique quilting style. She doesn’t draw her illustrations, she puts them together by quilting an elaborate piece of work then the quilted pieces are photographed for her book.
The words of Debbie’s book are based off of an original song Debbie wrote and the music is included with the book in the form of sheet music and on CD.
You can sing the song with the CD as you turn the pages of the book or simply read the book aloud and invite your preschoolers to sing, clap, and march along with the words!
Debbie also includes illustrations that show how to sign nine of the key words used in the book and song.
Debbie sent me two autographed copies of her new book. One copy of the book is for me to keep and add to my own collection of children’s books.
Debbie gave me the green light to give away the second copy of her book on my blog this week! If you would like to enter to win this copy of Debbie’s book…
